Volunteers' Week - Tamara's story

During Volunteers’ Week, we are celebrating all our fantastic volunteers who make a difference to the DRC.
One such volunteer is Tamara, who previously accessed DRC’s services and now volunteers on reception. Here is Tamara’s story:
“I got involved with the DRC last November. I was unemployed and looking to further my experience as a receptionist.  I was feeling lost and didn’t know where to turn, but then an opportunity come up at the DRC. I’d previously accessed the advice services and they were really helpful, so I applied for the receptionist role. They offered me an interview and then offered me the role!
The DRC is like a second family to me. The staff really do their best to help you and they treat you like a person not like a  number. If anyone is in the same position as me I would recommend volunteering. You get the best help available and they give disabled people a voice which I think is really important.”
Thank you for all you do Tamara, it’s great to have you on the team!
