Success on DRC Money Matters Course

Martin was referred to the DRC via his local Jobcentre Plus to learn more about a number of the services we run. Martin has a disability that affects his mobility and respiratory function. Since his referral in June 2017 Martin has been regularly attending the centre, taking part in a number of our courses.

Through funding from the Royal Bank of Scotland/NatWest Skills and Opportunities Fund Martin was able to complete his Level 1 Money Matters qualification. The course has helped Martin with personal budgeting skills alongside improving his IT and interpersonal skills.  The qualification was facilitated by the Open College Network West Midlands.

Martin has thoroughly enjoyed Money Matters, particularly how the course enabled him to interact with others on the course. He feels that his opinion mattered to both his fellow students and the course tutor; this has now given him the confidence he requires to apply for other training opportunities.

Although the course has finished Martin has continued to develop his connection with the DRC, joining our Thursday Job club. Martin would like to use his positive experiences to inspire others to take advantage of DRC services, “I have really enjoyed the personal budgeting and IT Course so much I am now trying to help to get other service users to join the course".
