Hours: Full Time ( 36.5 Hours) Fixed Term Contract to 31/03/2021

Salary: NJC SCP 17 - 22, £23,836 - £26,317

 

The Disability Resource Centre (DRC) is one of the leading disability organisations operating in Birmingham, Solihull and the wider West Midlands.

DRC has been successful in acquiring funding from Birmingham City Council to support their implementation of the  Neighbourhood Network Scheme which will enable the engagement with and investment in community assets.  This is for the purposes of supporting older people to connect to individuals, groups, organisations, activities, services and places in their neighbourhoods.  This approach is integral to the new community social work model and the overall investment by Adult Social Care in “Prevention First”.

 

Community assets are considered as any group, organisation, place, activity or service which can contribute to the following outcomes for citizens:

  • Social participation
  • Healthy lifestyles
  • Maximised income
  • Living independently in their own homes
  • Carers feel more supported

On behalf of the Birmingham City Council’s Adult Social Care Directorate, DRC has been commissioned to deliver the outcomes in the Yardley Constituency. We are therefore looking to recruit a worker who will carry out activities, functions and responsibilities that will ultimately enable the Directorate to achieve “Prevention First”.

The post holder will Identify and map “community assets” across the Constituency’s neighbourhoods;maintain a monthly “community asset” register for the locality for sharing with practitioners, funders, citywide digital directories and maps.; engage “community assets” in the locality neighbourhood network scheme and broker contact, links and relationships with citizens, social workers, GPs and other practitioners; work with and support Constituency “community assets”, as well as relevant partners, to help maintain and sustain the current activity and community offer; capacity build assets and enable new services to meet need.

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and results-driven candidate with a proven track record in Community Development, third sector delivery of services to address adult welfare, health, social and personal needs. A commitment to equal opportunities, vulnerable adults and working with people with a disability and long term health conditions is essential. The successful candidate will be trained to ensure they have the required capabilities to deliver the programme’s objectives. 

 

Candidates must hold a degree qualification or equivalent. A qualification such as the Level 3: Award in Education & Training and /or  qualification in advice and guidance.is desirable.
