As a Registered Charity (No. 1034581) and a Company Limited by Guarantee (No. 2897250), the Disability Resource Centre (DRC) is governed by a Board of Directors, which is elected on a rotational basis at the Annual General Meeting from the organisation’s membership.
The DRC is committed to the principle that disabled people should be in control of their own organisation. At any time at least 80% of our Directors are disabled people and this means that we are defined as both a Disabled Person’s Organisation (DPO) and a User Led Organisation (ULO).
The members of our Board of Directors act as charity trustees for the purposes of charity law and directors for the purposes of company law. New directors are recruited on the basis of the skills and experience they can bring to the role, which includes traditional business skills.
Directors are given a full induction and offered ongoing training opportunities.
